डॉ. सारंग वरुडकर आणि त्यांचा ११ वर्षांचा मुलगा अध्विक यांच्या अदम्य उत्साहाची आणि साहसाची साक्ष देते. नागपूर ते जगातील सर्वात उंच मोटरेबल पास 'उमलिंगला' पर्यंतचा त्यांचा 6500 किमीचा प्रवास केवळ एक धाडसी साहसी मोहीम नव्हती, तर बाप-लेकाच्या नात्यातील एक सुंदर आणि भावनिक प्रवास होता.

नागपूरच्या श्री कॉन्व्हेंट स्कूलचे संचालक डॉ. सारंग वरुडकर (४४) आणि त्यांचा ११ वर्षांचा चिमुकला मुलगा अध्विक, या बाप-लेकाने नुकताच एक असा प्रवास पूर्ण केला आहे, जो ऐकून डोळे पाणावतील आणि छाती अभिमानाने भरून येईल. नागपूर ते लेह, उमलिंगला (जगातील सर्वात उंच मोटरेबल पास), सियाचीन बेस कॅम्प, पँगाँग लेक, डेमचोक (चीन बॉर्डर),रेझिंगला वॉर मेमोरियल, कारगिल, झांस्कर आणि स्पिती... तब्बल ६५०० किलोमीटरचा हा खडतर प्रवास त्यांनी २३ दिवसांत पूर्ण केला. हा प्रवास केवळ बाईकवरचा नव्हता, तर तो जीवनाचे अनमोल धडे गिरवण्याचा, माणुसकीचे अनेक पैलू अनुभवण्याचा आणि बाप-लेकाच्या नात्याला एका वेगळ्या उंचीवर नेण्याचा होता.

या प्रवासाचा उद्देश फक्त दुर्गम स्थळे पाहण्याचा नव्हता, तर डॉ. सारंग यांना त्यांच्या अध्विकला पुस्तकी ज्ञानापलीकडचे, जीवनाचे खरे धडे शिकवायचे होते. त्यांना अध्विकला निसर्गाशी जोडून, नव्या लोकांशी भेट घालून आणि प्रत्येक कठीण परिस्थितीतही हसतमुखाने सामोरे जाण्याची शिकवण द्यायची होती. या प्रवासात त्यांनी अनेक ठिकाणी स्थानिकांच्या घरांमध्ये मुक्काम केला, त्यांच्यासोबत भावनिक संबंध जोडले. डोंगराळ भागातील साध्या आणि निस्वार्थी लोकांचा पाहुणचार अनुभवला. या भेटीगाठीतून अध्विकने माणुसकीची खरी व्याख्या अनुभवली असेल.

कदाचित अनेकदा त्यांना रस्त्यात अडचणी आल्या असतील, बाईक बंद पडली असेल, किंवा हवामानाने साथ दिली नसेल. पण अशा प्रत्येक प्रसंगात डॉ. सारंग यांनी अध्विकला धीर दिला असेल, त्याला सकारात्मक राहण्याचे महत्त्व सांगितले असेल. कडाक्याच्या थंडीत, ऑक्सिजनच्या कमतरतेतही, एकमेकांचा आधार बनून ते पुढे जात राहिले असतील. अध्विकने त्याच्या निरागसतेने आणि कुतूहलाने या प्रवासातील ताण कमी केला असेल. बाप-लेकाची ही जोडी 'कठीण समयी एकमेकांना साथ देणं' म्हणजे काय, हे प्रत्यक्ष जगली.

सियाचीनच्या बेस कॅम्पवर पोहोचताना, त्यांना देशाच्या संरक्षणासाठी अहोरात्र झटणाऱ्या सैनिकांच्या त्यागाची जाणीव झाली असेल. कारगिलच्या भूमीवर पोहोचल्यावर, त्यांनी शहिदांना श्रद्धांजली वाहताना देशासाठी काहीतरी करण्याची प्रेरणा घेतली असेल. या प्रवासाने अध्विकच्या मनात देशभक्तीची आणि मानवतेची बीजे रोवली असतील.

जेव्हा ते दोघे नागपुरात परतले, तेव्हा त्यांच्या चेहऱ्यावर 6500 किमीचा प्रवास केल्याचा थकवा नव्हता, तर एक अविस्मरणीय अनुभव पूर्ण केल्याचे समाधान आणि आनंद होता. हा प्रवास केवळ मोटरेबल पास सर करण्याचा नव्हता, तर तो आयुष्याच्या अनेक 'पास'मधून यशस्वीपणे मार्गक्रमण करण्याचा होता. डॉ. सारंग वरुडकर आणि अध्विक यांनी जगाला दाखवून दिले आहे की, दृढनिश्चय आणि प्रेमाच्या जोरावर कोणतीही अडचण मोठी नसते! या प्रवासाची आठवण आयुष्यभर त्यांच्या मनात आणि अनेकांच्या प्रेरणादायी कथांमध्ये जिवंत राहील.

Nagpur : Dr. Sarang Varudkar (44), director of Nagpur's Shree Convent School, and his 11-year-old son Adhvik, this father-son have recently completed a journey that will make your eyes water and your chest fill with pride. From Nagpur to Leh, to Umling (the highest motorable pass in the world), Siachen Base Camp, Pangong Lake, Demchok (China border), Risingla War Memorial, Kargil, Zanskar and Spiti... He completed this arduous journey of 6500 kilometers in 23 days. This journey was not just about biking, but it was about learning valuable lessons of life, experiencing many aspects of humanity and taking the father-son relationship to a different level.

The purpose of this journey was not just to see remote places, but Dr. Sarang wanted to teach his son real lessons of life beyond book knowledge. He wanted to connect him with nature, meet new people and teach him to face every difficult situation with a smile. During this journey, he stayed in the homes of the locals at many places, forming emotional bonds with them. He experienced the hospitality of the simple and selfless people of the hilly areas. Through this encounter, Adhvik must have experienced the true definition of humanity.

They may have often faced difficulties on the road, their bike may have broken down, or the weather may not have cooperated. But in every such instance, Dr. Sarang must have encouraged Adhvik, taught him the importance of staying positive. Even in the bitter cold, in the lack of oxygen, they must have continued to support each other. Adhvik must have reduced the stress of this journey with his innocence and curiosity. This father-son duo experienced firsthand what it means to 'support each other in difficult times'.

On reaching the base camp of Siachen, they must have realized the sacrifice of the soldiers who worked day and night to protect the country. On reaching the land of Kargil, they must have been inspired to do something for the country while paying tribute to the martyrs. When they returned to Nagpur, their faces were not tired from travelling 6500 km, but rather the satisfaction and joy of completing an unforgettable experience.
