राज्यघटनेचे शिल्पकार विश्वभूषण डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर आणि त्यागमूर्ती माता रमाई यांचा विवाह ज्या ऐतिहासिक भूमीत संपन्न झाला, त्या भायखळा येथील
मच्छी मार्केट परिसरात आज ४ एप्रिल रोजी मंगलमयी वातावरणात विवाह सोहळा स्मृती दिन
साजरा करण्यात आला. "जय भीम" आणि "माता रमाईंचा विजय असो" अशा
घोषणांनी संपूर्ण भायखळा परिसर दुमदुमून गेला होता.
सन १९०६ मध्ये याच
भायखळा मच्छी मार्केटच्या मोकळ्या जागेत बाबासाहेब आणि रमाई यांचा विवाह अत्यंत
साध्या पद्धतीने झाला होता. या ऐतिहासिक घटनेचे स्मरण म्हणून बौद्धजन
पंचायत समिती (रजि.) आणि डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर दक्षिण मुंबई पुतळा स्मारक समितीच्या वतीने
दरवर्षीप्रमाणे यंदाही भव्य कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. कार्यक्रमाची
सुरुवात बुद्ध वंदनेने झाली. यावेळी उपस्थित सर्व पदाधिकाऱ्यांनी आणि अनुयायांनी
बाबासाहेब व माता रमाई यांच्या प्रतिमांना पुष्पहार अर्पण करून 'कोटी कोटी प्रणाम' केले. याप्रसंगी
समितीचे अध्यक्ष आयु. महेंद्र शिवराम पवार यांच्यासह विठ्ठल जाधव,
विनोद मोरे, लक्ष्मण भगत, राजेश घाडगे, नागसेन गमरे आणि अनेक
मान्यवर उपस्थित होते.
मच्छी मार्केटमधील ज्या ठिकाणी हा विवाह सोहळा झाला होता, त्या जागेला आज एका तीर्थक्षेत्राचे स्वरूप प्राप्त झाले होते. मुंबईच्या कानाकोपऱ्यातून भीम अनुयायांनी येथे येऊन महामानवाच्या संसाराच्या सुरुवातीच्या आठवणींना उजाळा दिला. माता रमाईंनी बाबासाहेबांच्या शिक्षणासाठी आणि चळवळीसाठी दिलेला त्याग व साथ यावर मान्यवरांनी प्रकाश टाकला.
"हा केवळ एक विवाह सोहळा नसून एका महाक्रांतीच्या प्रवासाची सुरुवात
आहे. ज्या ठिकाणी बाबासाहेबांनी संसाराची धुरा सांभाळण्यास सुरुवात केली, त्या ठिकाणची माती कपाळाला लावणे
हे आम्हा शिव-भीम अनुयायांसाठी भाग्याचे आहे," अशा
भावना यावेळी उपस्थितांनी व्यक्त केल्या.
कार्यक्रमाचे यशस्वी आयोजन करण्यासाठी बौद्धजन पंचायत समितीच्या सर्व सभासदांनी आणि कार्यकर्त्यांनी विशेष परिश्रम घेतले. सोशल मीडियावरही या सोहळ्याचे थेट प्रक्षेपण करण्यात आले, ज्याला हजारो नेटकऱ्यांनी प्रतिसाद दिला.

Mumbai: On April 4th, amidst a spiritually charged atmosphere, the Marriage Anniversary Commemoration Day was celebrated in the Machhi Market area of Byculla—the historic land where the wedding of the Architect of the Indian Constitution, *Vishwabhushan* Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, and the Embodiment of Sacrifice, Mata Ramai, took place. The entire Byculla locality resounded with slogans such as "Jai Bhim" and "Victory to Mata Ramai!"
It was in 1906 that Babasaheb and
Ramai were married in a remarkably simple ceremony within the open grounds of
this very Machhi Market in Byculla. To commemorate this historic event, a grand
program was organized this year—just as it is every year—by the *Bauddhajana
Panchayat Samiti* (Regd.) and the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar South Mumbai Statue
Memorial Committee. The program commenced with the *Buddha Vandana* (Homage to
the Buddha). On this occasion, all the dignitaries and followers present
offered floral garlands to the portraits of Babasaheb and Mata Ramai, paying
them their deepest respects (*Koti Koti Pranam*). Prominent figures present at
the event included the Committee's President, Ay. Mahendra Shivram Pawar, along
with Vitthal Jadhav, Vinod More, Laxman Bhagat, Rajesh Ghadge, Nagsen Gamre,
and many other distinguished guests.
The specific spot within the Machhi
Market where this wedding ceremony was originally held has today acquired the
status of a pilgrimage site. From every nook and corner of Mumbai, followers of
Babasaheb (*Bhim-anuyayi*) gathered here to relive and cherish the memories of
the inception of the Great Man's domestic life. The dignitaries present
highlighted the immense sacrifices made by Mata Ramai, as well as the
unwavering support she provided for Babasaheb's education and his social
movement. "This is not merely a wedding ceremony, but the beginning of the
journey of a great revolution. For us followers of Shiv and Bhim, it is a
privilege to apply to our foreheads the soil of the very place where Babasaheb
first took up the mantle of domestic life," expressed the attendees on
this occasion.
All members and volunteers of the
Bauddhajana Panchayat Samiti put in extraordinary effort to ensure the
successful organization of the event. The ceremony was also live-streamed on
social media, drawing a response from thousands of netizens.
