OCW कंत्राटी कर्मचाऱ्यांच्या आंदोलनाला यश; आयुक्तांच्या सकारात्मक आश्वासनानंतर धरणे आंदोलन तूर्तास स्थगित

मनपा आयुक्त अभिजीत चौधरी यांना निवेदन देतांना  भारतीय मजदूर संघटनेचे पदाधिकारी  

नागपूर,ता.२ : ऑरेंज सिटी वॉटर (OCW) प्रशासनाने १ जानेवारी २०२६ पासून कामावरून काढून टाकलेल्या मीटर रीडर कर्मचाऱ्यांना पुन्हा नोकरीवर घेण्यात यावे, या प्रमुख मागणीसाठी पुकारलेले बेमुदत धरणे आंदोलन तूर्तास स्थगित करण्यात आले आहे. मनपा आयुक्त श्री. अभिजीत चौधरी यांनी याप्रकरणी लवकरच संयुक्त बैठक घेऊन सकारात्मक तोडगा काढण्याचे आश्वासन दिल्याने कर्मचारी संघटनेने हा निर्णय घेतला आहे.

नेमके प्रकरण काय?

भारतीय मजदूर संघ संलग्न 'ऑरेंज सिटी वॉटर वर्क्स कंत्राटी कर्मचारी संघा'च्या वतीने हे आंदोलन पुकारण्यात आले होते. नवीन वर्षाच्या सुरुवातीलाच प्रशासनाने अनेक मीटर रीडर कर्मचाऱ्यांना तडकाफडकी कामावरून काढून टाकले होते. याचा निषेध नोंदवण्यासाठी आज मोठ्या संख्येने कर्मचारी मनपा आयुक्त कार्यालयासमोर एकवटले होते.

शिष्टमंडळाची आयुक्तांशी चर्चा

परिस्थितीचे गांभीर्य ओळखून आणि पोलिसांच्या आवाहनानंतर, संघटनेचे अध्यक्ष  ओमप्रकाश उर्फ मुन्ना यादव तसेच भारतीय मजदूर संघाचे प्रदेश महामंत्री  गजानन गटलेवार यांच्या नेतृत्वाखालील शिष्टमंडळाने मनपा आयुक्त श्री. अभिजीत चौधरी यांची भेट घेतली. यावेळी आयुक्तांना सविस्तर निवेदन देण्यात आले. आयुक्तांनी कर्मचाऱ्यांच्या सर्व समस्या शांतपणे ऐकून घेतल्या आणि नोकरीवरून काढलेल्या विषयावर सकारात्मकता दर्शवली. आजच्या या शांततामय आंदोलनात संघटनेचे सचिव  देवानंद सतीबावणे,  सचिन शेंडे,  आकाश कडू, नीलकमल मेंढे, सरिता जागने यांच्यासह शेकडो मीटर रीडर कर्मचारी उपस्थित होते.

बैठकीचे आश्वासन आणि स्थगिती

सध्या महानगरपालिकेत महापौर निवडणुकीची प्रक्रिया सुरू असल्यामुळे आणि पोलीस प्रशासनाने सुरक्षेच्या कारणास्तव परवानगी नाकारल्यामुळे, तसेच आयुक्तांनी दिलेल्या आश्वासनामुळे आंदोलन तूर्तास स्थगित करण्यात आले आहे. आयुक्तांनी आश्वासन दिले आहे की:

• लवकरच आयुक्तांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली एक संयुक्त बैठक बोलावली जाईल.

• या बैठकीत OCW प्रशासन आणि कर्मचारी संघटनेचे प्रतिनिधी उपस्थित राहतील.

• काढून टाकलेल्या कर्मचाऱ्यांच्या बाबतीत कायदेशीर आणि सकारात्मक तोडगा काढला जाईल.

"आम्हाला प्रशासनावर विश्वास आहे, म्हणून आम्ही तूर्तास आंदोलन थांबवत आहोत. परंतु, जर बैठकीनंतरही कर्मचाऱ्यांना न्याय मिळाला नाही, तर आम्हाला नाईलाजास्तव संपूर्ण कुटुंबासह मनपा आयुक्तांच्या कार्यालयासमोर बेमुदत उपोषण करावे लागेल."

OCW contract workers' protest successful; sit-in protest temporarily suspended after positive assurance from the Commissioner

Nagpur, 2: The indefinite sit-in protest launched by the Orange City Water (OCW) contract workers, demanding the reinstatement of meter reader employees who were terminated from their jobs on January 1, 2026, has been temporarily suspended. The employees' union took this decision after Municipal Commissioner Mr. Abhijit Chaudhary assured them that he would soon hold a joint meeting to find a positive solution to the matter. What is the issue? This protest was called by the 'Orange City Water Works Contract Employees Union,' affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. At the beginning of the new year, the administration abruptly terminated the services of several meter reader employees. To protest against this, a large number of employees gathered in front of the Municipal Commissioner's office today. Delegation meets with the Commissioner Recognizing the seriousness of the situation and following an appeal from the police, a delegation led by the union president Omprakash alias Munna Yadav and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh state general secretary Gajanan Gatlewar met with Municipal Commissioner Mr. Abhijit Chaudhary. A detailed memorandum was submitted to the Commissioner during this meeting. The Commissioner patiently listened to all the employees' concerns and showed a positive attitude regarding the termination issue. Hundreds of meter reader employees, including the union's secretary Devanand Satibawane, Sachin Shende, Akash Kadu, Neelkamal Mendhe, and Sarita Jagane, were present at today's peaceful protest. Assurance of a meeting and temporary suspension The protest has been temporarily suspended due to the ongoing mayoral election process in the Municipal Corporation, the police administration denying permission for security reasons, and the assurance given by the Commissioner.

 The Commissioner has given an assurance that: "A joint meeting will be convened soon under the chairmanship of the Commissioner. Representatives of the OCW administration and the employees' union will be present at this meeting. A legal and positive solution will be found regarding the dismissed employees. We have faith in the administration, so we are suspending the protest for the time being. However, if the employees do not get justice even after the meeting, then we will be forced to stage an indefinite hunger strike with our entire families in front of the Municipal Commissioner's office." — Omprakash alias Munna Yadav, President, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh
