नागपूर: महाराष्ट्र प्रशासकीय सेवेतील एक अभ्यासू आणि कर्तव्यदक्ष अधिकारी म्हणून ओळखले जाणारे आयएएस कुमार आशीर्वाद यांनी नागपूर जिल्ह्याच्या जिल्हाधिकारी पदाचा कार्यभार स्वीकारला आहे. सोलापूरच्या जिल्हाधिकारी पदावरून त्यांची बदली नागपूर येथे झाली असून, त्यांच्या नियुक्तीने नागपूरच्या प्रशासनाला एक नवा 'आयआयटीयन' टच मिळाला आहे.

गावात वीज नव्हती, पण डोळ्यात स्वप्न होते!

कुमार आशीर्वाद यांचा जन्म १० मार्च १९८८ रोजी बिहारमधील एका अत्यंत दुर्गम ग्रामीण भागात झाला. त्यांच्या बालपणी गावात वीज किंवा इंटरनेटची कोणतीही सुविधा नव्हती. मात्र, परिस्थितीचे चटके सोसत त्यांनी जिद्दीने शिक्षण पूर्ण केले. त्यांचे प्राथमिक आणि माध्यमिक शिक्षण दार्जिलिंग आणि जमशेदपूर येथे झाले. त्यानंतर त्यांनी देशातील प्रतिष्ठित संस्था IIT खरगपूर मधून सिव्हिल इंजिनीअरिंगमध्ये बी.टेक. पूर्ण केले.

पाचव्या प्रयत्नात '३५ व्या' रँकसह अभूतपूर्व यश

आयआयटीमधून पदवी घेतल्यानंतर त्यांनी UPSC कडे आपला मोर्चा वळवला. मात्र, हा प्रवास सोपा नव्हता. सलग चार वेळा अपयशाचा सामना करावा लागल्यानंतरही त्यांनी हार मानली नाही. अखेर २०१६ मध्ये आपल्या पाचव्या प्रयत्नात त्यांनी देशात ३५ वी रँक मिळवून आपले स्वप्न सत्यात उतरवले. विशेष म्हणजे, त्यांनी 'मानववंशशास्त्र' (Anthropology) हा वैकल्पिक विषय निवडून हे यश संपादन केले होते.

प्रशासकीय कार्याचा दबदबा

कुमार आशीर्वाद हे त्यांच्या कडक शिस्तीसाठी आणि पारदर्शक कार्यशैलीसाठी ओळखले जातात. सोलापूरचे जिल्हाधिकारी असताना त्यांनी राबवलेल्या विविध लोककल्याणकारी योजना आणि प्रशासकीय सुधारणांचे मोठे कौतुक झाले होते. आता नागपूरसारख्या महत्त्वाच्या जिल्ह्याची धुरा त्यांच्या खांद्यावर आल्याने, जिल्ह्याच्या विकासकामांना नवी गती मिळेल, अशी अपेक्षा व्यक्त केली जात आहे.

Finally, in 2016—on his fifth attempt—he realized his dream by securing the 35th rank nationwide. Notably, he achieved this success by choosing 'Anthropology' as his optional subject.
