माजी  राष्ट्रपती भारतरत्न प्रणव मुखर्जी हे भारतीय राजकारणातील एक उत्तुंग व्यक्तीमत्व होते. आपल्या प्रदिर्घ राजकीय कारकिर्दीत त्यांनी विविध पदांची जबाबदारी यशस्वीपणे पार पाडत त्या पदाचा मान आणि सन्मान वाढविला. प्रणवदांच्या निधनाने भारतीय राजकारणातील एक पर्व संपले .  

मुंबई : माजी  राष्ट्रपती भारतरत्न प्रणव मुखर्जी हे भारतीय राजकारणातील एक उत्तुंग व्यक्तीमत्व होते. आपल्या प्रदिर्घ राजकीय कारकिर्दीत त्यांनी विविध पदांची जबाबदारी यशस्वीपणे पार पाडत त्या पदाचा मान आणि सन्मान वाढविला. प्रणवदांच्या निधनाने भारतीय राजकारणातील एक पर्व संपले, अशा शब्दात काँग्रेसचे प्रदेशाध्यक्ष तथा महसूलमंत्री बाळासाहेब थोरात यांनी आपल्या शोकभावना व्यक्त केल्या आहेत.

प्रणव मुखर्जी १९६९ मध्ये राज्यसभेचे सदस्य झाले आणि नंतर इंदिरा गांधी, राजीव गांधी, पी. व्ही नरसिंहराव व डॉ. मनमोहनसिंह यांच्या मंत्रिमंडळात अर्थ, परराष्ट्र, संरक्षण अशा अत्यंत महत्वाच्या पदावर काम करत आपली छाप सोडली. प्रणव मुखर्जी हे लोकसभा व राज्यसभेचे प्रदिर्घकाळ सदस्य होते. विविध संसदीय समित्यांचेही काम त्यांनी पाहिले.

प्रणव मुखर्जी हे काँग्रेसचे नेते असले तरी सर्व पक्षातील नेते त्यांच्याकडे सन्मानाने आणि आदराने पाहत. कोणताही वादाचा विषय निघाला तर प्रणवदा हे यशस्वी मधस्थी करायचे. काँग्रेसचा विचार पुढे नेण्याचा त्यांनी नेहमीच प्रयत्न केला.

 देशासाठीचे त्यांचे योगदान लक्षात घेऊन भारत सरकारने त्यांना सर्वोच्च नागरी सन्मान ‘भारतरत्न’ने सन्मानीत केले. त्यांच्या जाण्याने कधीही न भरुन येणारी पोकळी निर्माण झाली आहे. प्रणवदांना भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजली अर्पण करून महाराष्ट्र प्रदेश काँग्रेस कमिटी मुखर्जी यांच्या कुटुंबियांच्या दुःखात सहभागी आहे.
