The Growing Grip of Counter-Revolutionary Forces in the Land of Revolution!
Eminent Thinker J. V. Pawar: 'Lifetime Achievement Award' Conferred upon Prakashnath Patankar

Nagpur: J. V. Pawar—a renowned writer, senior thinker of the Dalit movement, and an intellectual rooted in the ideology of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar—expressed deep concern that forces and tendencies seeking to orchestrate a 'counter-revolution' are rapidly spreading their influence in Nagpur. It was in this very city that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar ignited a monumental 'Dhamma-revolution' (a revolution based on the principles of Dhamma) on October 14, 1956. Pawar also voiced serious apprehension regarding the social and ideological decline currently observed within the Ambedkarite community.

The 'Republican Movement,' a social organization, conferred its 'Lifetime Achievement Award'—instituted in memory of the poet Nagorao Patankar—upon the social activist and thinker Prakashnath Patankar. Pawar was speaking at an event held on Friday at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Convention Centre. The event was presided over by the veteran poet E. Mo. Naranware. Also present on the dais were Bhadant Nag Dipankar (Trustee of the Deekshabhumi Smarak Samiti), Naresh Vahane (head of the 'Republican Movement'), and Sangeeta Patankar.

J. V. Pawar remarked that Nagpur has historically served as a primary cultural and social hub for the movement; however, the city now appears to be losing its distinct identity. He lamented that some individuals within the community are today compromising by aligning themselves with the very regressive organizations against whose ideology Dr. Ambedkar had fought. He noted that there is now a vast, chasm-like divide between the revolutionary history of 1956 and the current reality—a shift that he described as deeply painful for the community, while urging those present to remain vigilant.
In his presidential address, E. Mo. Naranware... Narnavare shed light on the life and work of Nagorao Patankar, recalling several significant events from his journey.

Chhaya Khobragade delivered the introductory remarks, while Takshashila Waghdhare moderated the proceedings. Aniket Kuttarmare proposed the vote of thanks. Notable attendees included Tarachandra Khandekar, Narendra Shelar, Bunty Uke, Bhimrao Vaidya, N. T. Meshram, Umesh Borkar, Shankar Dhengre, Dr. Vinod Dongre, Vilas Bhongade, Aman Sontakke, Prithvi Gote, Pravin Kamble, Bharati Sahare, Varsha Sahare, Saroj Meshram, Prakash Kumbhe, Prakash Bansod, Prabhakar Pantawane, Manoj Shende, Niranjan Patil, Prabhakar Dhok, Jagdish Mule, and Chandramani Bamburde.

- Fearless advocacy through the support of the community: Prakashnath Patankar
Responding to his felicitation, Prakashnath Patankar stated that he has carried forward the legacy of social awareness—inherited from his father—through his songs. Expressing his gratitude, he noted that even 55 years after his father’s passing, the Ambedkarite community continues to recognize the work done by his family. He emphasized that it is the support of the Ambedkarite community that enables him to carry out his mission of social awakening fearlessly, adding that he uses his songs to challenge and critique communalist ideologies.
