फसवणुकीची कार्यपद्धती: 'Pawan' नावाचा मेसेज आणि 'APK' ची लिंक
फसवणूक करणारे अनोळखी क्रमांकावरून व्हॉट्सॲपवर एक संदेश पाठवतात. हा संदेश 'प्रिय वाहन मालक' (Dear Vehicle Owner) अशा औपचारिक शब्दांनी सुरू होतो आणि त्यात तुमच्या वाहनाने रेड सिग्नल जंप केल्यामुळे ₹१,००० चा दंड (Challan) लागल्याचे नमूद केलेले असते.
या मेसेजमध्ये सर्वात मोठा धोका असतो—तो म्हणजे 'चलन भरण्यासाठी किंवा पुरावे पाहण्यासाठी आमचे अधिकृत ॲप डाउनलोड करा' अशी सूचना आणि त्यासोबत जोडलेली "e-challan.apk" नावाची फाईल.
लक्ष द्या! हीच आहे धोक्याची घंटा:
फसवणूक: कोणतीही अधिकृत सरकारी यंत्रणा (RTO/ट्रॅफिक पोलीस) चलन भरण्यासाठी व्हॉट्सॲपवर थेट APK (Android Package Kit) फाईल पाठवत नाही.
मालवेअर (Malware): ही APK फाईल म्हणजे तुमच्या मोबाईलसाठी बनवलेले एक धोकादायक मालवेअर असते. एकदा तुम्ही हे ॲप इन्स्टॉल केले की, ते तुमच्या फोनचा रिमोट ॲक्सेस हॅकर्सना देते.
परिणाम: हॅकर्स तुमच्या फोनमधील OTP (One-Time Password) मेसेज वाचू शकतात, बँक खात्याचे तपशील चोरू शकतात आणि तुमच्या नकळत आर्थिक व्यवहार करू शकतात.

फाईल डाऊनलोड करू नका: व्हॉट्सॲप किंवा SMS वरून आलेली "e-challan.apk" किंवा तत्सम कोणतीही फाईल कधीही डाउनलोड करू नका किंवा इन्स्टॉल करू नका. ती त्वरित डिलीट करा.
अधिकृत पोर्टलवर तपासणी: तुम्हाला खरोखर दंड लागला आहे की नाही, हे तपासण्याचा एकमेव सुरक्षित मार्ग म्हणजे भारत सरकारचे अधिकृत 'परिवहन सेवा' (Parivahan Seva) पोर्टल.

फसवणूक झाल्यास तातडीची मदत
जर तुम्ही चुकून APK फाईल इन्स्टॉल केली असेल आणि तुमच्या बँक खात्यातून अनधिकृत व्यवहार झाले असतील, तर जराही वेळ न घालवता खालील दोन गोष्टी करा:
बँकेला संपर्क: तातडीने तुमच्या बँकेला फोन करून तुमचे ATM कार्ड/क्रेडिट कार्ड आणि इंटरनेट बँकिंग सेवा ब्लॉक करा.
सायबर तक्रार: लवकरात लवकर राष्ट्रीय सायबर क्राईम हेल्पलाइन (National Cyber Crime Helpline) क्रमांक १९३० (1930) वर फोन करा किंवा भारत सरकारच्या www.cybercrime.gov.in या पोर्टलवर ऑनलाइन तक्रार नोंदवा.
सायबर तज्ञांचा इशारा आहे की, कोणत्याही भीतीने किंवा घाईत येऊन अनोळखी लिंकवर क्लिक करणे किंवा ॲप्स इन्स्टॉल करणे टाळा. ॲप्स नेहमी फक्त Google Play Store किंवा Apple App Store वरूनच डाउनलोड करा.

Nagpur, Date: October 12: A highly dangerous cyber fraud is spreading across the country, stealing money from citizens' bank accounts by sending fake traffic violation notices (e-challan) on WhatsApp. Cyber criminals are impersonating traffic police and asking users to download a fake application (APK file), thereby stealing personal data and financial information. The Cyber Security Department has issued an urgent appeal to citizens not to fall prey to such messages.
The Modus Operandi of the Scam: Message from 'Pawan' and an 'APK' Link
Fraudsters send a message on WhatsApp from an unknown number. The message begins with formal words like 'Dear Vehicle Owner' and states that a fine (Challan) of ₹1,000 has been imposed on your vehicle for jumping a red signal.
The biggest danger in this message is the instruction to 'download our official app to pay the challan or view evidence,' along with an attached file named "e-challan.apk".
Pay Attention! This is the Danger Signal:
Fraud: No official government body (RTO/Traffic Police) ever sends a direct APK (Android Package Kit) file on WhatsApp for challan payment.
Malware: This APK file is a dangerous Malware application created for your mobile phone. Once you install this app, it gives hackers remote access to your phone.
Consequences: Hackers can read OTP (One-Time Password) messages on your phone, steal bank account details, and carry out financial transactions without your knowledge.
What Should Citizens Do Immediately? (Safety First)
As per the instructions from cyber experts and the Police Department, follow the steps below if you receive such a message:
Do Not Download the File: Never download or install the "e-challan.apk" or any similar file received via WhatsApp or SMS. Delete it immediately.
Verify on Official Portal: The only safe way to check whether you have genuinely been fined is through the Government of India's official 'Parivahan Seva' portal.
